The catalytic formation of C–C bonds and small molecule activation are two of the most important reactions for developing new industrial processes and inventing methodologies to generate pharmaceutical components. The Huh Research Group will address gaps in C–C bond forming technologies under the guise of multimetallic inorganic and organometallic chemistry. This will be achieved by leveraging molecular cerium polyoxometallates (POM) to form C–C bonds via oxidative decarboxylation and O-atom/NR-group transfer mimicking automotive three-way catalysts. Pharmaceutically relevant organic components such as diimines, cyclopropenes, and azirines will also be generated via C–C bond forming reactions facilitated by bimetallic lanthanide and transition metal complexes.
