Abstract
X-ray powder patterns on oligomeric and polymeric permethylpolyazines are reported. These materials are largely amorphous but diffraction spots are observed which can be interpreted in an orthorhombic unit cell. The cell parameters for the polymer describe the volume of a single repeat unit in the all trans conformation, as previously implied from IR and NMR data. In contrast, a packing analysis of cis conformations leads to unit cells larger than experimentally observed.
